​​Arts & Crafts, Horticultural & Home Produce Show

The arts & crafts, horticultural and home produce competitions are very much the historic feature of the show; it is always fun to see who can bake the best cake or grow the most impressive vegetables or flowers to win one of the many trophies.  Entries are welcomed from everyone!

Entry Procedure
Intending exhibitors should submit completed entry forms to the Show Committee at the Kestor Inn on Monday 3rd August, between 7.00pm and 8.00pm or by email to [email protected] by midday on Monday 3rd August.

Each exhibitor will be supplied with a ticket for each of his/her exhibit(s) showing their number and the class number.  There will be no charge for entries.

Classes

Garden Produce

1. 5 potatoes any colour
2. 6 pods peas
3. 6 pods runner beans
4. 6 pods French beans
5. 2 beetroots trimmed
6. 3 carrots
7. 3 onions trimmed
8. 6 shallots
9. 2 courgettes
10. Tomatoes 5 fruits shown with calyx
11. Any vegetable not shown in this section, labelled
12. A jam jar with a mix of 5 home-grown herbs
13. A plate of fruit any variety
14. A small bowl of homemade compost
15. 6 hens eggs mixed or single colour from the exhibitor’s hens
16. Any outsized or misshapen vegetable or fruit!

Flower Arranging

17. ‘To the Beach’ A display of flowers and foliage any size, accessories encouraged
18. A wreath using fresh or dried flowers & foliage any size, accessories encouraged
19. Tiny flowers in a thimble

Flowers

20. A single bloom – ‘my favourite from the garden’
21. A vase of 3 varieties of flowering shrub, just foliage or including flowers, 1 stem of each
22. Dahlias, Decorative - a single bloom
23. Dahlias, Cactus or Semi Cactus, 3 blooms, one colour or mixed
24. Dahlias, Ball or Pompom, any size, 5 blooms, one colour or mixed
25. Dahlias, 3 blooms of any cultivar, one type or mixed, any colour
26. Dahlias, a mixed vase of 5 heads of the brightest colours any type
27. Cut Flowers – Any annuals or herbaceous perennials including roses, a mixed collection of 5 stems
28. Sweet Peas, 9 stems one or mixed varieties
29. Sweet Peas, 3 stems of a single variety
30. Sweet Pea, one stem of any colour to be judged for scent
31. A small vase of sweet peas with 7 stems including a section of the vine with leaves and tendrils

32. (7 & under) 3 traffic light biscuits, own recipe

35. (All ages 12 & under) A fruit or vegetable animal

Photography

56. Manaton Show & Fair – Let us see your photographs from previous years, there’s so much scope with lots to see at the Show & Fair!
57. St Winifred’s Church – We would love to see some different angles in or outside the church, what about recording the new extension?
58. Skyscape – Many are excited by taking landscape photographs; why not turn your gaze upwards?  Think about timing – weather conditions are always changing, even the passing of a few seconds can radically change a ‘skyscape’.
59. Sun and Sea – Most people love the sea, particularly when the sun is shining, let’s celebrate this!
60. Dartmoor Silhouettes – The drama of Dartmoor provides many subjects that are very eye catching, particularly when these are viewed ‘against the light’ – explore the possibilities.
61. This Always Makes Me Smile – Amusing situations abound, but some are always uplifting – let’s share some!
